WHEREAS, the students at the University of California, Berkeley pay registration fees; and,
WHEREAS, the University is going through a budget crisis; and,
WHEREAS, students are facing increased fees, costs, and decreased services because of the aforementioned budget crises; and,
WHEREAS, $70.00 (exact number???) per academic school year per student is allocated to the department of Intercollegiate Athletics; and,
WHEREAS, the aforementioned fee is not optional; and,
WHEREAS, this fee directly benefits the Division 1 Athletes, which is less than 900 students; and,
WHEREAS, there are over 30,000 non-athlete students on campus; and,
WHEREAS, these non-athlete are only involved in Intercollegiate Athletics Division 1 as spectators; and,
WHEREAS, the non-athlete students have an option to contribute Intercollegiate Athletics in the form of tickets to view or not to view Division 1 Athletic Teams as non-academic entertainment; and,
WHEREAS,
WHEREAS, not all students have the resources be it time or money to view any type of entertainment, and,
WHEREAS,
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, something in regard to supporting all entry fees to Division 1 sports
FURTHER RESOLVED, the abolishment of the registration or repeal – fee
