About the Student Union Complex Redevelopment

The Lower Sproul Plaza Renovation Project

Lower Sproul Plaza is a large campus space desperately in need of repair. Flanked by Zellerbach Hall to the West, Eshleman Hall to the South, the ASUC Student Union to the East and the Cesar Chavez office building to the North, the Plaza is a large open space where students like to congregate.

Recent efforts to plant flowers and improve signage have helped a little, but much, much more remains to be done.

Although we are constantly trying to introduce new events to the space, the plaza primarily serves as a Zellerbach surge space before/after performances, or as a "pass through" for students going to or coming from campus.

lowersproulimage2The university has undertaken a massive and complex project to rebuild the Student Union and Lower Sproul Plaza. We have identified an architect and drawn conceptual plans. We are busy moving the project through the campus proccess of design approvals and permitting.

Once completed, the new Student Union Complex will be seismically safe and upgraded and ready to move students forward into the next generation. We are very much in need of your help to make that happen. If you would like to donate, please click here.
