ASUC Undergraduate-Graduate Mentorship Program (UGMP)
The ASUC Undergraduate/Graduate Mentorship Program provides an opportunity for graduates to mentor undergraduate students considering the pursuit of an advanced academic degree.
The graduate student will be a mentor who will offer advice and answers to the undergraduate who is interested in gaining more knowledge about his/her academic field of interest, the graduate school process, or just about future academic endeavors.
In the Undergraduate/Graduate Mentorship program, the undergraduates will be expected to enroll in and attend a weekly one and half hour one-unit DeCal during the spring semester. The ASUC will provide the structures and materials for this program, but it is up to you as the participant to make the most of the mentorship. How much you benefit from the program is highly dependent on the effort given.
It is the ASUC’s hope for the program to enhance the Cal student community’s academic potential, to close the gap between undergraduate and graduate education, and to continue the academic success of this university.
Participants will be expected to enroll in and attend a weekly one and half hour one-unit (Tuesdays 7-8:30pm) DeCal during the spring semester. The class will include guest speakers and panelists directed towards providing undergraduates with information about graduate school. Numerous socials throughout the course will allow for reflection on workshops from previous weeks.
The ASUC will provide the structures and materials for this program, but it is up to you as the participant to make the most of the mentorship. How much you benefit from the program is highly dependent on the effort given.
UNDERGRADS MUST BE ENROLLED IN THE DECAL TO PARTICIPATE.
